The method to determine the heat resistance index of refractory fiber products is generally to heat the refractory fiber products to a certain temperature, and evaluate the heat resistance of the refractory fiber products according to the linear shrinkage and crystallization degree.
1. The effect of temperature on the properties of refractory fiber products
From a thermodynamic point of view, glassy ceramic fibers are in a metastable state. Therefore, as long as it is heated at a certain temperature, particle rearrangement will occur inside the fiber, and the glass state will be transformed into a crystalline state, and the fiber will crystallize.
When the crystal grain size grows to be close to the diameter of the fiber, the bonding force inside the fiber will be dominated by the chemical bond between the molecules, and the bonding force will be mainly the crystal grain boundary force between the crystal grains. Because the crystal grain boundary bonding force is relatively fragile, it will lead to the brittleness of fiber. Under the external force, the fiber will be easily damaged and eventually loses its fiber properties.
Next issue we will continue to introduce factors that affect the performance of refractory fiber products in application. Please stay tuned!
